MARKETING: Staying Connected

As a photographer one of your biggest sources of new business will be referrals from current clients. Yes, getting your name out to the masses is important, but you need to stay connected with your current clients. I am not sure that using services like “Constant Contact” are super beneficial unless each mailing is actually read by the subscribers. When putting together a mass newsletter think “attention grabbers only.” The first line or subject should grab their attention so they will actually take longer than a second and read the first sentence or two. If your content is not interesting enough you will loose them and your efforts have failed. I do not recommend these unless you are good at viral writing. (more on this in another post to come.) If you are using mass emails to connect, realize that it is very impersonal and you should always try to personally reach out to your clients every once in a while too by way of personal email, phone call, or even better, a hand written snail mail letter or note.
