NOT Keeping Up with the Joneses (CONCLUSION)

Right after I taught JT how to climb the wall.

Right after I taught JT how to climb the wall.

Part 12 of the 12 part series on balancing your life.

I don’t know about you, but life can get pretty insane. The point of this all is to encourage you to slow down. Take a look at your life. No, really, take a day to evaluate your life and how you are living it. Prioritize. Make a list and tack it up where you will see it daily. A friend of mine once told me to write up my own obituary. While a bit morbid, I think this is a brilliant idea. What are the things you would want it to say. Take it a step farther and write up a second one about what it would actually say at this very moment. Compare the two and start making adjustments to your life to get your current obituary to match your ideal one. Start today. Take small steps. Once you are on that path, keep going.

I’ve got a lot of work to do in my own life so I thought I would share with you my two obituaries. I wrote them from my kid’s perspective because that is what is important to me.

Current
My momma was fun and crazy. She always played pretty hard with me but it was fun. I liked it when we played in the backyard and she let me get her wet with the hose, but sometimes she got mad. She worked a lot. I got to play with Izzy, Patti, and grandma CC too while momma worked in her office. I wanted her to play too but she was working. I loved it when she came home from being gone for a while. She always gave me a big smile.

Ideal
My momma was fun and crazy. She helped me learn lots of things and helped me understand how to be good. She was loved my many people and helped them a lot. She always had time for me and she took me on great adventures. Someday when I grow up I want to be just like her. She loved my Dadda so much and we got to play a lot together too. I want to marry someone  just like my Momma and I am going to be a good husband just like my Dadda.
